Deep cleaning vs regular cleaning
Regular cleaning is maintenance. Someone wipes the counters, vacuums, mops and cleans the toilet, and the home looks fine for a week. It does not reach the layers that build up underneath: grease on the hood mesh and backsplash, black grout, limescale on taps and screens, dust packed into aircon covers, fan blades and window tracks.
A deep clean is the reset for those layers. With relative humidity around 80 to 84% all year, grease stays tacky and dust sticks instead of sitting loose, so most Singapore homes need one every 3 to 4 months, not once a year. If you only ever book one, book it before Chinese New Year or before guests stay.
Spring cleaning vs deep cleaning
There is no spring here. "Spring cleaning" in Singapore means the pre-CNY whole-home clean, roughly November to February. It is the same job as a deep clean: same checklist, same price. Slots fill quickly in December and January, so book two weeks ahead.
End of tenancy vs deep cleaning
The difference is the state of the unit and who checks it. An end of tenancy clean happens when the unit is empty, so the team cleans inside every cabinet, wardrobe and drawer, then walks the unit against a landlord-style checklist. A deep clean works around your furniture and belongings. If you are moving out, book end of tenancy; the agent will open the cabinets. If you are moving in, the same checklist works as a move-in clean before your boxes arrive.
Post renovation vs end of tenancy cleaning
Renovation dust is different from household dirt. Cutting, sanding and tiling leave fine gypsum and cement powder on every ledge, inside cabinets and in aircon covers. Wiping it wet first turns it into a grey film, so post renovation cleaning starts with repeated dry dusting and HEPA vacuuming. Paint drips, glue and cement haze on tiles are separate jobs, quoted after a look at the unit, and an acid wash is only for porcelain or ceramic, never marble.
When the furniture is the problem
If the rooms are fine but the sofa smells, the mattress triggers allergies or the rug has stains, you do not need a whole-home clean. Sofa, mattress and carpet cleaning are priced per item. Book upholstery cleaning if several fabric pieces need doing on one visit.
